Horsham Working Newfoundlands: Perpetual Trophies

Horsham Working Newfoundlands has a number of trophies which are awarded annually. All trophies are awarded at the Horsham Newfs AGM with the exception of the Dog of the Year trophy which will be awarded at the annual rally.

Trophies will only be awarded to fully paid up members of Horsham Newfs and are normally held for 12 months but must be returned immediately if membership ceases.

Recipients are responsible for engraving and safe return.

Braveheart Trophy

To encourage members to take part in, and gain recognition for participating in, working tests organised by the Newfoundland Club or the Northern Newfoundland Club. The trophy will be awarded to the dog which accumulates the most points during each calendar year (January - December) irrespective of the handler.

The Tasha Trophy

Awarded to a dog which shows both an obvious love of water and great enthusiasm to please the handler so that together they make a good working team. The dog should also display a natural ability for water work and be responsive to the handler.

The Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer of Horsham Newfs will collectively decide on the recipient.

Dog Of The Year Trophy

A 2 day competition will be held annually in August with water exercises on day 1 and carting exercises on day 2.

The trophy will be awarded to the dog gaining the highest number of points overall. Dogs must be at least 6 months of age for the water competition and 12 months of age for the carting.

Impartial judges will be appointed.

Junior Handling Trophy

Open to all junior members of the group between the ages of 7yrs and 15yrs - eligibility will cease on their 16th birthday. The annual period of eligibility is from the Horsham Newfs AGM to the end of December of the same year.

Merit will be gained for involvement in water and carting training sessions, Newfoundland Club tests, events and competitions and other events such as Horsham Newfs rally.

Steve & Elaine Mallett will decide on the recipient for the first year and thereafter the parents of the current holder will award the trophy. (Refer to detailed criteria for further details)

David Rowe Memorial Shield

Awarded annually to the Newfoundland who is deemed to warrant special recognition for the previous year. This could be related to companionship, temperament, working, showing or other criteria as determined by the judges. Sandra Rowe will decide on the recipient for the first year and thereafter the current holder will award the trophy.
